I have been learning devops through some guidelines and workshop videos I have collected from my university club. I have covered AWS, Docker, and learning Kubernetes till now. Out of personal curiosity, I have managed The Kubernetes Book and loving it.
I was wondering if you could suggest some other books.
Note: Later on the workshop covers on tools like ...
Your Cloud security practices pls[IT, other]

Hi gang. We’re testing out a new cloud security product and discovered a bazillion config issues with our AWS setup.
In your experience, what’s the single biggest reason for insecure cloud configs? Is it manual provisioning? Or automation code (like terraform) not being scanned?
And what practices do you follow to fix issues found by cloud security tooling? ...

Greetings fellow DevOpers, I've been hired originally by a large company as an enterprise lead architect and I am still in my probation period.
However it turned out to be more of a Kubernetes engineer job and other systems operations. So right now I don't want to continue, but I am not sure how to relay the message.

Hi everyone,
I'm moving our production DNS from a private VPC provider to AWS Route 53. On the face of it, this should be as simple as exporting the Zone files to AWS and re-pointing the name servers with our domain provider... but what have I missed?
Share your DNS horror stories to make me aware of things! :D

MariaDB: Weird bug when using Docker host volumes instead of named volumes...[IT, other]
Posted 1 year ago
For my local network, I'm trying to deploy Speedtest-tracker. It uses MariaDB 10 as their background DB.
I first deployed it using named Docker volumes, which worked seamlessly. However, I tried to standarize it so I migrated them to a host volume path in my machine, resulting in:
volumes:
- //d/Docker/speedtest/db:/var/lib/mysql:rw
#- speedtest-db:/var/...

I joined a consultancy firm where I got trained for 10 weeks as a dev ops engineer. This included technologies such docker and k8, terraform, Jenkins, ansible etc and for cloud we covered Azure and AWS. Before I joined I was told that this was a dedicated training cohort for one specific client and I would undertake a devops engineer role.
