OTB passed away[IT, other]
Posted 1 year ago
Respected linux youtuber OTB passed away. I'm very gutted to hear this. He was one of the most politest, nicest and reasonable people out there. Personally I didn't know he was dealing with health issues. This is a terrible loss to the community. He shall be missed. Condolences to his loved ones.

AWS re:Invent as an AWS noob[IT, other]
Posted 1 year ago
I'm attending AWS reinvent this year but I have no experience with AWS. I am hoping to set up my schedule to take me from 'zero' to 'competent' by the end of the week, and maybe even get me to a point where I can take a certification test shortly after. However, I've been looking at the class list and ...

At my current job when I am assigned a project it feels like I am totally thrown in the deep end without any assistance. Sysadmin title feels like a scam in job postings lately[IT, other]
Posted 1 year ago
I've noticed that Syadmin has slowly turned into an everything admin and it feels like a scam at this point. They are asking for a sysadmin, netadmin, cyber security pro, cloud admin, automation engineer, and devops engineer all in one. I don't mind it but when they are paying less than 100k it feels like a slap in the face.
