What is your company using for on-call notification?[IT, job post]
Posted 10 months ago
I'd like to move into freelancing/contracting for devops related jobs (4 yrs IT business analyst, 6yrs sysadmin/networking, 5yrs dev and have been working towards the move for a few years).
One thing I'm concerned about is that I think a lot of devops jobs require on-call rotations. I moved into a very rural area and don't want to leave. ...
Advice on IaC overhaul options[IT, job post]

Looking for some advice from other folks on how I should go about v3ing my iac.

Seeking advice for maintaining a stable connection to Azure server from Lebanon[IT, other]
Posted 10 months ago
I'm a web developer based in Lebanon, working remotely with a US-based company. I'm facing challenges with my ISP constantly changing the IP address of my network, causing disruptions in the Azure server database connection. Could anyone recommend services or platforms in Lebanon that provide a fixed IP address to address this issue effectively? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

This premise comes from the fact that many open-source projects for example solve a specific problem in a cool way, but they are not tested to work at complex large environments, and that's where companies ...

Using commits instead of tags for our releases[IT, other]
Posted 10 months ago
Hello everyone,
Since I joined my company for a while now. In the our Gitlab Flux Repository, I'm seeing that we use the short commit hashes for our Docker images released, even in production.
I'm not sure if that's a good practice or not or no big deal, because I think the better way is to have releases with tags ( ...
How do you deal with CI, project config, etc. falling out of sync across repos?[IT, job post]
Posted 10 months ago
My company has a small SRE team who manage a Jenkins instance, k8s, etc. but actually writing CI pipelines, etc. is up to us devs.
My team is responsible for around 20 or so Python repos (libraries, microservices, etc.), but only 5-10 are actively developed, most are just being maintained.
We try to standardize as much as possible across repos (...
